  • Settled: Townsite was platted in 1892
  • Origin of Name: Named after Adelaide Dampier, Minidoka County’s first Superintendent of Schools
  • Known for: Families who lived close to the railroad could flag down a train along the tracks; besides the railroad siding and pump house; at one time it had a school, Trinity Lutheran Church, originally held in a railway box car, Ebenezer Congregational Church (one and a half miles west of Adelaide,) Emanuel German Reformed Church, a Mennonite Church, a cemetery,  and at least one store; mail was delivered three times a week, over primitive roads
  • Notable Features: Homesteaders in this area were allowed 320 acres, rather than the standard 160, since government officials deemed the land as “marginal,” without telling the homesteaders
  • Location: Located 25 miles (10 minutes) northwest of Rupert, taking Baseline Road west to 400 W. (5.3 miles) 1 mile south on Hwy. 25 west to Paul, then 16.5 miles north (18 Minutes) north on 600 W
