- Original Name: In its earliest days, what became known as Winder was three seperate districts: Roscoe, in the north, the center part was known as Poverty Flat, named after the hard work it took to get settled in the area, and the southern end as Batle Creek
- Origin of Name: Named after John A. Winder, then a counselor to President Joseph F. Smith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
- Noted History: Several families lived in the area in the summer months, but wintered in Hyde Park, Utah, but lived continuously on their land once water was brought from the Oneida Canal; Winder had the distinction of having the first high school bus system in Franklin County; had a brick schoolhouse built in 1919, with two classrooms upstairs and an amusement hall and stage downstairs, where many community dances and events were held; it was known for its fine baseball teams
