  • Origin of Name: Named after the nearby lake, which in turn was named for the swans that  nest and summer there
  • Known for: Originally a rail station on Oregon Shortline Railroad; now a rural country community on Highway; officially known as “Swanlake” by the post office, “Swan Lake” is preferred by many locals 
  • Notable Features: Post office established in 1880, Thomas Mercantile, a fully restored general store provides convenience items, goodies, locally-grown ag products, a grill, and locally-made crafts
  • Location:  17.9 miles  (19 minutes) north of Preston, ID via Hwy 91 N, 50.2 miles southeast of Pocatello on I-15 S, then Hwy 91 S
  • Population at 2010 Census: 93
