- Origin of Name: Train station on the Oregon Shortline Railroad, 2 versions of its origin: 1) named by Mr. Preston after his birthplace of Oxford, England or 2) after nearby Oxford Creek, where oxen tracks were found in its creekbed
- Historical Overview: Rail station between Logan and Pocatello, but station was several miles from the town; had post office, once the county seat of Oneida county, which extended from Utah to the Montana border and was named as a possible site for Idaho’s capital in the early days; housed The Oxford Hotel; majestic Mt.
