- Settled: Never really a town, this rural community was established in the late 19th and early 20th centuries
- Original Name: Early settlers referred to the nearby mountain as “Little Mountain”
- Origin of Name: Named after the prominent hill in the area, The “Sterling” part of the name also likely originates from the Scottish town of Stirling. The name was chosen by the area’s first developer, Hugh Forbes.
- Known for: A smaller rural community located about a mile south and east of Wellsville on the east side of Hwy 89/81; located at the northern mouth of Sardine Canyon, this attractive community offers the proximity of city resources, while maintaining a slower-paced environment; at one time it had a church, school, Relief Society building and other establishments
- Location: 10.8 miles (15 minutes) south of Logan on Hwy 89/91
