- Origin of Name: Named for Francis Marion Lyman, the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints official who helped direct the settlement of Oakley; Lyman Pass was also named for him
- Known for: Marion was the fifth rail stop, south of Trout and north of Oakley on the Oakley Branch of the Oregon Short Line Railroad and also the name of the farming community in its vicinity; once a thriving community, its historic Marion Dance Hall, built in 1906, is preserved; it had a post office 1885-1918 and a two-story railroad passenger and freight depot
