  • Settled: The first settler was James Frew in the 1870s or 1880s
  • Origin of Name:  Named Roosevelt in a school district named Lincoln, after US Presidents, when a new LDS ward was organizaed, Emma Rich Bingham coined “Linrose,” a portmandeau, which combined the two words into one
  • Original Name: Roosevelt, then changed to Linrose
    Historical Overview: Called :a garden spot” by the wife of Linrose’s first bishop; Roosevelt School was a frame building for school, church and community gatherings; replaced in 1917 by a larger brick school, named Roosevelt, but commonly called Linrose School; many ag products were raised in Linrose, including peas, sugar beets, beef and sheep
  • Location: Located between Weston and Dayton, on the plateau above Bear River, 4.7 miles (9 minutes) southwest of Preston on Oneida Street, then Hwy 36
