- Settled: In April 1898, during Box Elder County’s “Second Tier” of settlement by people from New Sharon, Iowa, led by Harvey Catell; about two years after the Iowa settlers, a group known as the German Colony came from Tremont, Illinois
- Origin of Name: Two versions: 1) the original settlers from Iowa settled in a “string” along the road; hence “Iowa String;” 2) a guy from Iowa brought ha herd of hogs through town, saying “his hogs were the finest string of hogs from Iowa
- Known for: A local designation given to an area of farms along 6800 West between Utah Highway 83 and the Box Elder County Fairgrounds in Tremonton
- Location: Adjacent to I-84 N approximatley from Tremonton to Garland, UT
