  • Settled: Latter-day Saints from Lehi, Utah moved to the area in 1860; Hyde Park was organized by Ezra T. Benson on July 1, 1860
  • Origin of Name: Named in honor of William Hyde, one of the area’s first settlers. The name also evokes Hyde Park in London, England, home of  many of the early settlers 
  • Notable Features: The first school & church meetings were held in a one-room log building; the first irrigation canal in the area was built in 1869 and known as “Old Dutch”
  • Location: 3.4 miles (6 minutes) south of Smithfield on Hwy 91, then east on Hyde Park’s 200 North 
  • Population 2022: 5,420
