  • Origin of Name:  Its name was optimistically chosen by early settlers of that area, who guessed correctly that the area would be known as a bounteous farming area
  • Known for: This fertile agricultural area contains several smaller rural communities, including Churchill, Island and Trout
  • Notable Features: Originally a rail stop on the Oregon Short Line Railroad of the Union Pacific Railroad on the Oakley branch, which runs from Burley, south to Oakley, ID; grading of the project was begun by the Minidoka Southwestern, a predecesor of the UP; the project was completed in May, 1911; the Golden Valley rail stop is south of Kenyon in the Golden Valley
  • Location: 14.6 miles (18 minutes) southwest of Burley on Hwy 27, then turning left on Golden Valley Road, 1000 S.
