- Settled: The first settler in the area was a sheep and cattle rancher by the name of Davidson.
- Origin of Name: Fairview, then in 1900 the Latter-day Saint ward became known as Manila, but was changed by the U.S. postal Service to avoid confusion with the Manila district in Utah county. Finally, the community became known as Elwood
- Known for: The Bear River forms part of the town’s eastern border, and the Malad River forms part of the western border. The town of Deweyville and the city of Honeyville are to the east, and the city of Tremonton is to the northwest.
- Location: 2.5 miles (4 minutes) southeast of Tremonton on Hwy 102, then south on Hwy 13
- Population: 2022 Census: 1,249, up from 1,180 in 2020
