  • Settled:  By Latter-day Saints in 1870s
  • Original Name: The railroad terminus was originally called Watson, then later Oneida, after the Oneida mine in the area; it was Marsh Valley’s end-of-track camp and tent city during the Oregon Short Line Railroad’s construction in 1878
  • Origin of Name: Two accounts: 1) a corruption of the Bannock Indian word “Edmo, meaning a tribal chief, 2) Named by a railroad official, supposedly after a red-haired Indian chief
  • Known for: Originally a rail stop on Union Pacific railroad, now a rural farming and housing community; city offices, high school and middle school, funeral home, convenience store, LDS church
  • Location: Located on Hwy 91 N 38.5 miles northwest of Preston, ID
  • Population: 351 as of 2022
