- Origin of Name: When Scherrer’s post office was established in 1907, it was named “Acequia,” a Spanish name, meaning ‘water course,’ apparently to denote where two canals split off the main canal

- Known for: Farming & Agricultural community, located 6.9 miles southeast of Snake River’s Minidoka Dam
- Notable Features: Elementary School, LDS church, various businesses
- Location: 5.5 miles (9 minutes) northeast of Rupert on Hwy 24
