  • Settled: In 1870, the first application of the Homestead Act in Cache Valley. Four young men from Kaysville—Peter and Everett Van Orden, John M. Bern- Sisel, and Robert Wall settled on the site of what became Lewiston 
  • Original Name: Cub Hill, also known as “Poverty Flats,” “Starvation Corner“ and “Last Chance”
  • Origin of Name: Named after William H. Lewis, first Mormon bishop in the area
  • Incorporated:  1904
  • Known for: Large City Lots, Historic Downtown, City Park
  • Notable Features: Post Office, City Offices, Cemetery, Lewiston Theater; Elementary School, Several Retail Businesses, Bank; LDS Church. Historically an agricultural and farming community
  • Location: 11.9 miles (16 minutes) north of Smithfield on Hwy 91, then turning west on Hwy 61
  • Population 2020 Census: 1,766
