Grouse Creek, UT

  • Settled:  The  first white settlers of Grouse Creek came in 1875 from Tooele, settling on the West Fork; Valison Tanner, Sr., and his brother Alma C. were the first to arrive.
  • Origin of Name: Named after early settlers found grouse plentiful in the area
  • Known for:  Settlers were attracted to the area because of the many acres of natural meadows. In the 1910s Grouse Creek had a brass band that played at celebrations. They also had a good dance orchestra, which provided music for almost weekly dances.
  • Location: Located 144 miles (2 hours, 15 minutes) west of Tremonton on I-84, then west on Hwy 30 at the junction of Cotton and Joe Duhar creeks
