  • Settled:  By Mormons- early settlers arrived about 1870
  • Original Name:  Hancock, then later Nine Mile Creek, since it was located nine miles north of Oxford, and the same distance from Arimo on the Utah Northern Railroad; at that time it was the area’s commercial center and county seat of Oneida county
  • Origin of Name: Named after Cambridge, England, original home of some of the settlers; name is said to have been suggested by Bishop William B. Preston in the 1870s because in England Oxford and Cambridge were regarded as sister cities and since Oxford, Idaho was so close, the association was expected to be similar as in England
  • History: In 1875, had the first post office in Marsh Valley; once had a small elementary school; in 1952 the Cambridge Latter-day Saint Ward was dissolved and included in Downey 2nd Ward, along with Downata/Calvin/Zenda/Red Rock/Grant area southeast of Downey
  • Location: 2 ½ miles (3 minutes) northeast of Downey
  • No population figures on this unincorporated rural community
